Dreams do come true

Those of you who know me, know that for quite a while now, I have desperately wanted a turtle. So...about a week ago, I was visiting with my friend, and he mentioned that his family had a turtle they didn't want anymore. He asked me if I knew anyone who might want it. Of course I jumped at the opportunity. So here is my little girl:

When upon life's highway you are tempest-tossed.

So, let's say in theory, I might have had some experience with hydroplaning...as of today.
What may have happened, is I was driving home, and my car spun out of control, spun around twice on the freeway going North, then it went into the ditch between the North-bound and South-bound traffic, spun almost up to the South-bound traffic, then back into the ditch where it got stuck in the mud...But here are the things I learned to appreciate from it.

Mud. Without the mud that was all over the place, the car would have rolled instead of spinning.

The tire blowouts I experienced last month. They led to me going in to get my car fixed up, and I ended up getting new brakes...which turned out to be WELL worth every penny.

Big scary men with long hair. Tyler pulled over to help us, despite his hurt arm, and the fact that he was very nearly home. He also left us with his phone number written on a receipt he had in his pocket...that also said "Happiness Comes From The Heart" Thank you Tyler for defying stereotypes.

The kindness of strangers. I didn't know any of the people who pulled over to offer assistance, but I feel their love, and love them so much.

Water-bottles and napkins. That's the only way I was able to clean the windows of my car enough to drive to a gas station and clean them for real.

Perspective. Pointing out every little thing we were grateful for made the trip a million times better.

Our usual adventures. Whenever I drive anywhere with my big sister, we end up being at least an hour behind schedule because of our spontaneous adventures/errands. I can't tell you how completely I appreciate that in comparison to this adventure.

Ya'll are probably sick of me.

but I don't care. I'm bored out of my mind here in Provo, so I'm writing blog posts. Deal with it.

Anyway, today I decided to give myself a treat. One I've wanted for quite a while. And by quite a while, I mean about 2 weeks since I saw it at Barnes and Noble on a date with my BFF (Bacon Fat Factory)
Yes. I am creepy. While I was at Barnes and Noble to buy this, I got into a brief debate with myself between this book and Evil Serial Killers. True story. I am not a typical girl. That's all I can really say about that. Anyway, this book is ultra-fascinating. And I'm about 90% sure that it was written by a Christian. Just based on what I've read from the first 30 pages or so. Although that may be largely because the bible is a really good source for villains whose names people will recognize.
My favorite monster so far is Jezebel. She was the first one in the book.

I believe that love is the answer

To all of life's questions. Maybe it isn't that simple. But maybe it is. Maybe all we have to do is learn to love. All kinds of love. Maybe all we have to do to make the world a better place is care about everyone else. Maybe all we have to do is picture our best friend in the place of the man of the corner asking for money. Maybe if we all believed the best of each other, people would live up to it.

I know I'm extremely naive. I know I'm sheltered and innocent. But I still believe I can make a difference just by caring. I think that I can change things. Because what we can remember is that love changes us. If we truly love others, we can't stand idly by and watch them starve. We can't watch them begging without giving what we can.

And maybe I'll be taken advantage of for this. Maybe the man I gave money to the other day went home to a huge house, purchased with the money he's made begging. But maybe that $5 I was able to give him bought him the only meal he got that day. Maybe he spent it on alcohol. I don't know. What matters is that I did my part to help him.

What matters is the change that I'm making in my life for this.

You could do better

I've been thinking a lot lately. I was talking to a friend about a guy that I was becoming interested in. Being as how we are girls who go to BYU, she asked me if we could facebook stalk him. I agreed, so we looked him up. Prior to our stalking, I informed her that due to timing issues, nothing could happen with him, regardless of what he might feel. We looked at a picture or two, and she said "Really Tiffany, I think you could do better."
I was shocked. I had only shown her 2 pictures of him. That was the entirety of what she knew about him. She had never seen him in person. She had never spoken to him. She really knew very little.
And that made me think. It's true, he isn't a guy that you look at and fall for immediately. He isn't the most extraordinary looking guy at first. But as I got to know him, I found that it didn't matter. He's someone that you talk to, and spend time with, and as time goes by, he becomes good looking. I've known him only since mid-September, and I think he is one of the sweetest, most fun to talk to guys ever. He's made it a point to say hi to me every day. He talks to me about things that we have in common, or at least that he knows I'll have an interest in. He makes me laugh.
And to me, all of these things are infinitely more important than finding a guy who looks like Ryan Reynolds. Due to timing issues, nothing is going to happen with this guy. We will just be friends. But from this experience, I have found that I am good at focusing on what is important.

Yesterday

Yes I was going to write this yesterday, but instead I went to bed. But anyway, I digress.

Reasons yesterday was terrible:
1. I got the worst grade I've ever gotten on a test at BYU
2. I waited in line for over an hour to take said test.
3. I didn't expect to do much walking, so I wore heels all day.
4. I got chewed out and cussed at over the phone at work.
5. I was exhausted all day
6. I didn't bring any food to campus because if I hadn't waited in line so long I would have been home by 3.
7. I spent time with one of my best friends...who I happen to be very much in like with, and who happens to not have any interest in me.
8. It was Monday
9. It's finals week
10. My fellow Idahoan roommate left for Christmas.

Reasons yesterday rocked:
1. I got the best grade I've ever gotten on a test at BYU
2. I only waited in line for 15 minutes for that test.
3. I got to wear some really cool socks.
4. I looked pretty good.
5. I had cookies
6. I got to sit by Ashley at work
7. I had more calls where I hung up thinking (and saying) I like nice people, then otherwise.
8. I got free pizza
9. I got to play with a baby
10. I have a job, so I was able to buy some food.
11. I got to bed at 8:30
12. I have some great friends
13. Every time I got a text message, my phone sang "Why are you so obsessed with me" to me.
14. I finished 2 finals, and thus became half way done with finals. maybe more.
15. When I got in my car to head home from campus after taking 2 finals, I heard my favorite braindead song.
16. I got to take a test with (sitting next to) my beloved Kristi
17. I found out exactly what time I get to see my brother on SATURDAY.
18. I decided I'd rather have a good day than a bad day.

Secret to success.

So I was trying to think of a really good idea for a way to save time in the morning. Finally, I found one. and not only will I save TONS of time in the morning, but I've received a huge confidence boost, I've been walking around with a giant smile on my face, and a new bounce in my step.

How have I achieved this most wondrous occurrence? and at the low price of $10?

Yeah, I cut my hair. And it's magnificent.

Believe it anyway.

Be soft. Don't let the world make you hard. Don't let the pain make you hate. Don't let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place

Do you ever find life making you feel like something is missing? Like there's something empty in life? Is it just too hard for right now? Well don't give up. Keep going. We have a choice in the matter. We can hold onto hope in the world to turn out right next time. Count off everything that went wrong as an experience. After all, aren't we all here to learn? Aren't we all figuring out what to do differently?
And more than that...the world is a beautiful place. Look around you. I guarantee, absolutely 100% that where ever you are, there are at least 5 beautiful pictures. Things you can look at and truly appreciate the wonder of life. I'm currently sitting in the library by myself, and just glancing around me, I can see so many amazing and beautiful things. I wish I had a camera with me.
And more than that, when you give up that hope, when you let life make you hard, when you don't see the beauty in the world anymore...the world has won. You've given up. You're out of the fight. You might see yourself as protecting yourself, but you aren't. You're losing yourself. You are the soft, fun-loving bright person that you were as a child. You have faith in the goodness of the world. Don't let it beat that out of you.

And if you can't find the beauty in your situation, in your life right now...Borrow this beauty for a little while. It's here for you. I'm here for you.

I know that I personally begin to lose hope when it's snowy and cold outside. I feel chained up, alone. I don't know where to turn. I can be surrounded by people, and I still feel alone and depressed. So hold on to little bits of spring. Remember that it's coming again.
I love my Daddy more than anyone else on Earth. He is the best thing in my life. When I start to give up. To believe that the world doesn't hold good. That people don't care...I remember him. And my dad is amazing and wonderful...but each of us has a Heavenly Father who loves us even more than we can imagine. Who is somehow even more wonderful than my earthly father. Thus, life is good. Life is great. Even when it's not.
I know that one thing that gives me more hope than I can describe is seeing couples still together who have seen it all. Seeing the love that my grandparents have for each other...seeing the interactions between my bishop and his wife. Seeing the way that my teacher's whole countenance lights up when he mentions his wife. It tells me that love really can last. Love is real. Don't give up. It's out there for you.
Babies represent the very best in the world. They're so pure and happy. They trust the way I want to. They need us. They can't give up on us, because we are the way they survive. And they are the future. The very best medicine for depression or discouragement is spending time with a baby. That baby is so clean, so pure, and so trusting, that you will love it from the start.
Children are the purity of a baby with the hilarity of their statements. Children are the future, and they are wonderful. Seeing their brightness, and how huge they think their problems are, gives us perspective, and lets us remember that to someone, we are children too.
The sun will come out. We can be in darkness, we may feel lost, but the sun is there, and as long as we trust that, we will know it will come for us again. In a burst of pure warming light. It is there.
And finally...to me, this is what best friends look like. This is my very favorite picture in all the world. Not because of what I look like...I think I look terrible...but because this is real friendship. Brittani has been there for me through everything. We haven't always been the closest, we fluctuate, we go through hard times. But that's life. and I know that she's there. She's someone that I can let go of everything around, and just be myself. I don't have to hold up guards. I'm not afraid to cry around her. She loves me anyway.

So maybe life is hard. Maybe you don't want to try anymore. Maybe you're ready to give up. You just can't believe in the goodness anymore. You don't want to open your heart again. But what are you gaining by closing off? What are you gaining by not believing in the good of the world? Yes, life can be hard. Yes, people you love will leave you. Yes, somethings you build will fall apart. Yes, things can be hard to believe in. Believe anyway.

I want

A HAIRCUT!!! Really really bad.
I want short hair again, it's so low maintenance and so fun and fresh. But the problem is, I've only ever had my hair cut by one person before, and the thought of letting someone else cut it makes me tense up and almost start to hyperventilate. And the one person who has cut my hair lives something like 4 and a half to 5 hours away. So that won't be happening anytime soon.
Also, my hair is currently really close to the longest it has ever been, if not the longest it has ever been. Which is kind of cool in and of itself. What a dilemma.

Tiffany is grateful for a lot of things...but those don't include how bad she is at blogging.

So I haven't shared my gratefulness for a while. Here we go.
November 6. Tiffany is grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (some of you might want to skip this part. Whatever, this is how I feel) I love the church. I know that it's true. I've been able to find so much comfort when I need it through the teachings of the church. I know that Jesus Christ came to Earth for me. I know that he also came for you. He paid for every bad thing we've ever done. and why would anyone do that? Not so that he could hold it over our heads through all eternity, but just because he loves us. I am so grateful for that love. And to show my thanks, I am going to do my best to cause him as little pain as possible. I want to contribute the least pain and sorrow to his suffering as I can.
November 7. Tiffany is grateful for Cami Fish and Kristi Walston. Cami is so adorable. I am glad that I got to spend more time with her on Sunday and get to know her. She is so kind and honest. I have more in common with her than I ever realized before. I am truly grateful that she is in my ward. Kristi, as you should already know is one of my favorite people ever. I adore her. I love it when I get a chance to talk to her, and she opens up to me with something new. She always amazes me, and helps me look at life from a new perspective.
November 8. Tiffany is grateful for Shannon Williams creating Overheard @ BYU so she could find this little gem: "It's times like these that you need an umbrella or a boyfriend. Either one will work but an umbrella is more low maintenance." On that note, Tiffany is grateful for Aubrie Forsyth giving her a ride to work and lending her an umbrella.-yeah. My friend made Overheard @ BYU. if you go to BYU, you know what that is, and you're probably jealous. It's okay. I still love you even though you aren't as cool as her. Anyway, it was raining and cold when my beloved roommate gave me a ride to work, so she let me take her umbrella. She loves me. What can I say. She is a blessing.
November 9. Tiffany is grateful she discovered world kindness day. Yeah. Saturday is world kindness day. I couldn't be more excited. I think it's the best idea for a holiday ever. For the reason, see why I'm grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Tiffany can't not post this. She is grateful for Darren Criss. and AAA. and Shannon Williams and Katie Walker for being giddy and awesomely fun to hang out with! and Allen Merrill for being an awesomely good sport. So we watched Glee. Darren Criss is now on Glee. He is beautiful. I like him a lot. I have since watching A Very Potter Musical, but you definitely can't tell he's particularly attractive there. I was very pleasantly surprised. Also, I happen to like Asians. I think they're attractive. and it just so happens that Shannon has declared me a fan of Attractive Asians Anonymous, or AAA. it made me happy. Actually, Shannon, Katie, and I just had a lot of fun that night. As Allen can testify. He puts up with a lot for us. What a good guy.
November 10. Tiffany is grateful for Derek Chandler informing her today on campus that she is going to get fat. This is only a little sarcastic. It did make me smile. It's always fun to see friends on campus, and it's always a special treat for me to have someone use the word fat in a sentence referring to me.

Tiffany Jackman is grateful for long walks with Kevin

So today, I was having a kind of bad day. My night was terrible. I was on the verge of a break down. So I went on a walk with my friend Kevin. He let me cry everything out, and he just listened to me talk about everything. All of the things weighing on my mind that really don't matter, or are stupid. He listened to all of them. He let me talk it all out.
And that's all I needed. A friend to listen to me. Someone to let me feel like I matter, and I can be heard. I am so glad that Kevin is there for me, and that he has my back.

Tiffany Jackman is grateful for having the best dad ever

I love my dad. SO much. I talked to him today for about a half an hour while he was driving home from work, and it was so good to talk to him. It's nice to know that there is someone always on my side. Someone I can always count on, who is always my biggest fan. And it is true that no matter what, he is always my biggest fan. I am always his baby girl. And for all of these reasons and more, I am grateful for my daddy. I am Daddy's Little Girl all the way. He is the best thing ever. And it is because my daddy is so wonderful, and I love and respect him so much, that I am able to fathom a loving Heavenly Father. How can there not a loving Heavenly Father when I have such an amazing earthly father here?
So now I plan to listen to this song while I go to bed. Also, this song. and this one too.

November=Thanksgiving

What's the first thing you think about when you think about November?
If you're like most people, it's Thanksgiving and food...So...I'm posting a facebook status of something that I'm grateful for everyday, I'm going to expound on them here. So here are the first 3 (or 4. I got a little exuberant yesterday)
November 1. Tiffany Jackman is grateful for Kathleen Madison.
Kathleen is my roommate. At least I'm pretty sure she is. She's not around very much. But I seriously adore her. Every time I see her or have a conversation with her, I feel like I'm really the best me that I can be. She makes me smile, and consider other sides of things. And she's completely honest. Kathleen isn't going to sugarcoat anything for anyone. But she can still make anyone feel better about anything.
November 2 (part 1). Tiffany Jackman is grateful for the chips and salsa from Gringos she got this morning, and for Jake Earnest thinking of her, and taking the time to get them.
My friend Jake is actually a BYU-I student, living in Provo for an internship. So this last weekend, he went to Idaho to get his snow tires on. Before he left, he asked if there was anything any of us wanted from Rexburg. I jokingly mentioned Gringos (my favorite Mexican restaurant in the world, and how much I love their chips and salsa. I was sure he would completely forget about it. But when I woke up that morning, there were chips in a box on my table from Gringos, and salsa in my fridge. He is amazing.
November 2 (part 2). Tiffany Jackman is grateful for Kristi Walston, Katie Walker, Randi Mosher, Kimberly Hofman, Nathan Reid Geddes, and Dallon RD Reddish for being such wonderful friends, and keeping her mind busy tonight.
So I had a kind of rough night last night, and received some news that I would rather not think about. Shortly there after, I went to visit my friend Kimberly, who entertained me with stories, and just being herself while we cooked. She's always great at making me smile, no matter what might be going on. After leaving Kimberly's, I felt an urge to go visit my favorite person from my freshman year, Nathan. So I did. and he is truly an incredible person. I have honestly never been so grateful to spend time with someone. He is an answer to all of my prayers, sometimes even before I've prayed them. Then when I got home, and was sitting in my room by myself, my thoughts began to drift to the news I was trying not to think about. So I texted my friend Kristi, and asked for a hug. She came straight over, gave me a huge hug, and brought me to her apartment, where I got to spend time with her and her amazing roommates Katie and Randi, who greeted me so happily, that there was no question but that they were truly delighted to have me there. It was great!! And then from the time I visited Kimberly on, Dallon and I were texting about how he is coming to visit this weekend, and how much fun we will have. For those of you wondering, we are getting married whilst he is in Provo.
November 3. Tiffany Jackman is grateful for Richard Hardy Ashton and Sydnee Wilson for making even time in the library fun.
In order to avoid thinking about the news of yesterday, I was keeping myself as busy as I possibly could. Therefore, I had had a fairly dull day, in which I kept my mind strictly on my work, and didn't give myself very much fun. I was about to go to my last class of the day, and I went into the library to print out the paper that was due, and just as I sat down at the computer, someone walked past me and bumped into my chair. In case you didn't know, I'm fairly skinny, and had my chair scooted in, so I was a bit confused...so I turned around, and there was Rich. For those who didn't know, Rich is one of my top 5 best friends in the world. So I was pretty happy to see him. I smiled at him, then he gestured in Sydnee. I also adore Sydnee. I work with her, and she is so much fun. They invited me to come study with them, but I had to turn them down in order to go to class. However, as I was walking out of periodicals, Rich started pointing at me, so I pointed back at him, and Sydnee started blowing me kisses. I caught a kiss as I walked out...and to be honest, that was the first real smile I smiled all day is after seeing them. They are the best. :)

So as you can tell, my life pretty much rocks. I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to see what I'm grateful for tomorrow!!

Halloween

Recently there was a holiday. It was one of my favorite holidays. Much fun was had by all. Candy was devoured, and costumes were worn.
yes. it was Halloween.
My beloved Brittani and Jana wanted to do the 7 deadly sins with their roommates...but there was only 6 of them. So I got to join them. Here we are:
We look good. I know. Here are our close ups
Finally, as a side effect of me really loving my costume...here's the whole thing.

You're going to be bad for business, I can tell.

So, I'm maybe kinda sorta starting to date someone. And he's amazing.
but I'm also working 20 hours a week.
and taking 16 credits.
I was doing really good with school. I had a policy about not going home until my homework for 2 days in advance was done. I was taking super detailed notes. I was a good girl.
Now I will admit to being a bit distracted, frequently going home with just my homework due the next day done, and then trying to do the things for the day after that.
The truth is I'm just not as focused as before. Luckily in the class that I have the most trouble focusing in I have motivation. I volunteered to take notes for a student with a learning disability at the beginning of the semester. So I need to focus a little more in that class. However, it is in that class that I am writing this.
I'm just saying that dating and going to school don't mix very well. Unless you have ultra-good self motivation skills. Or the motivation I have-I don't pass my classes, I lose my job.

PS yes the title of this post is a quote from Moulin Rouge. and I love it. I will quote that movie and apply it to my life whenever I possibly can.

Contradictions

So as some of you may know...I HATE being cold. It's my least favorite thing in the whole world. I would light myself on fire if the alternative was freezing to death-at least I'd be warm. I would honestly rather the summer when you're unbearably hot than even November when I start being unable to warm up. Part of this is that I'm about 95% sure that I'm cold-blooded, as I am almost constantly cold. and even in the middle of July, it doesn't take long in the swimming pool before I'm freezing and go to sit in the sun.
On the other end of the line, I love rain SO much. It's kind of ridiculous how much I love rain. I am well known for playing in the rain until I am completely soaked through. In comparison to the times that I have jumped in the pool fully clothed, I would say the end result is about the same...minus the chlorine.
So here is my dilemma. It's October, and finally starting to cool down. I broke out a sweater last night. and I'm wearing another one tonight. Which I'm actually kind of happy about. I love wearing sweaters. I think they're the greatest invention. and once it's acceptable weather to wear them outside, I get to have a sweater on in my classrooms where I'm always freezing. However, it has also been raining lately. Which of course is a terrible temptation for me. I'm not the person who huddles inside or under awnings to watch the rain. So yesterday I walked through the rain smiling and laughing and with much enjoyment for about a half an hour. I was a little chilled, but it was totally worth it. Awesomely incredible. However then I had to go to class. In the basement. I was FREEZING for every second of the hour and fifteen minute class. and my walk home. Finally I got home, changed into a sweater from my t-shirt, and wrapped myself in a blanket for a little bit before I began baking to warm up the kitchen. So today it is raining again. It's supposed to rain all week. I want desperately to play in it with reckless abandon...but I have the problem of my intense hatred of being cold. and were it this temperature and raining in March or April, I would be out there loving every second of it because I would be used to the cold again. (still not happy about it, but used to it nonetheless.) but it's the beginning of the cold.
What to do, what to do.

Sometimes Stress is worth it...but not for the reasons you expect.

I'm the activities co-chair in my ward. We just had an activity. Our ward opening social, as it were. I was really nervous and stressed out all the last week about it, because I am one of those people. I scare myself about things, and I stress out. I micro-manage. I like to do everything myself. I hate that about myself, but that's me. I'm trying to be better. My co-chair is great about that though. Where I would have sent people away when they came and offered help, he would give them jobs. We will work wonders together this year.
Anyway, I wasn't planning on having much fun tonight, because I figured I would be busy. and I was, but that was the fun part. I got some time to go sit with friends and chat. I got time to eat a little bit...but in my mind the very best part of the night was washing dishes. I started washing some, and Jarrett came over and joined me, putting himself in charge of rinsing. We were washing the dishes, and he went to rinse a glass, and splashed me a little bit. I may have squealed a bit out of surprise.
Jarrett looked at me, apologized, and told me it was an accident...then an impish look appeared on his face..."That was an accident," he said, "but this isn't." and he full on sprayed me with the water.
I started laughing, and cupped some of the soapy water and splashed him back.
We got all the dishes done and put away, and we had a blast doing it. I am very in favor of such experiences. I thought the activity was going to be worthwhile based on the success of the good food and the fun that people had playing the games...but really the part of the activity that I'm going to remember is washing the dishes. It was the most fun I've really had in a long time.

Little Things

It's amazing how sometimes the little things can trigger the strongest responses. I've found that something as little as a hug from a friend, and knowing that they were thinking about me can be all it takes to make me feel happy, and have a renewed faith in the world.
But on the same note, other little things can also have quite an effect for the negative. Little things like the lack of a hello. Signs that someone I was once incredibly close to doesn't notice me anymore. Things like that hurt more than I can say.
Some other things that can have amazing effects for the good or for the bad are even smaller. Something that most people wouldn't notice. Like when the boy next to you wears the same cologne as an ex-boyfriend. or when a song comes on the radio that you once sang with your best friend in a talent show.
It just amazes me the power that little things have to show the truth to us. And how much of a difference for the better or worse we can make in someone's life just by doing or not doing tiny acts of kindness. How long does it take to send out a quick text telling someone they're on your mind? Or to smile and say at someone walking past? Those things could change a life...but how often do we really do them?

Isn't it about....time?

My family is amazing. I got the chance to come home this weekend, and it's been absolutely incredible. I also had to write a paper about how my family works, and what our main priority and goal as a family is. So I've spent a lot of time with/thinking about my family as of late. I've come to realize how fantastically lucky I am to have them. So I'm going to tell you about each of them.
Mommy: My mother is wonderful. She always does everything people ask her for, and then some. She takes care of her family and of the babies that she's in charge of at work. She's the most nurturing and caring person I know.
Daddy: I am a definite Daddy's girl. I think he's the best of the best. He's funny. He's caring. He always knows exactly what to do to make me feel better. If I'm having a terrible day, he will listen to me while I talk about my problems, and even let me cry it out long before he starts offering me advice. Then as soon as I'm done crying it out or sharing my problems, he'll tell me a joke and make me laugh, then tickle me until I can't help but be happy.
Michelle: Michelle has been my stepmom since I was 7. She's the strongest, most determined woman ever. I honestly believe she can take anything that life might send at her, and handle it with a smile on her face as long as she has her family with her. She can do anything.
Jeni: Jeni has a mind of her own, and always has. She's well known in our family for always doing whatever she feels like doing, and doing everything her own way. I've lost count of the random nicknames she's given me. The one I remember best is Skittle. I still don't know why.
Kody: When we were little, we told people we were twins. He was tall for his age, and I was short for mine. We both happened to be blonde at the time as well. So we decided that we were basically twins. We also created a group that we called DAB--Dibbuns Against Bedtime. We had a declaration of independence against bedtime. It was the greatest! I love him, and I can't wait to see him again...hopefully soon!
Matt: Matthew is really really smart, and he is very passionate. He loves Spanish, and he will speak Spanish most of the time if we let him. It's a struggle for me to get him to speak English to me since I don't speak Spanish. He also loves to sing. Josh Groban's Spanish songs are his favorite things on Earth. His least favorite is definitely when I call him my baby brother though. So of course that's my favorite thing to call him.
Morgan: Morgan is a little fireball if there ever was one. She's a gorgeous little blonde girl who just started high school. She never even had an awkward stage the lucky thing. She is on the dance team, and is fantastic at softball and volleyball too. She knows exactly what she wants, and she is going to get it.
Roni: Roni is about the cutest thing I've ever seen. She is 9 years old, has curly brown hair, huge brown eyes, and knows just how cute she is. As the youngest of 6, she's been spoiled rotten for most of her life. I'm afraid we may have created a monster...but she is a very good girl. She's very sweet, and really just wants to know that everyone loves her. And they do.

Is that your natural hair color?

So today I made myself some cheese biscuits. I absolutely adore them. However, I only like them while they're warm. So after eating two with my dinner, I decided to give the left over six to some guys in my ward. There's one apartment that I hang out with a good deal, so I took it to them. I then went shopping for groceries with some girls in my ward. When I got back, my roommates told me one of the boys had come over to thank me for the biscuits. As I had nothing else to do, I decided to go over and hang out with them. I walked in, and 4 of them were sitting in the front room.
I talked to them about the biscuits for a little bit, then Paul said "Oh Tiffany, we had a question for you. We'll let Jake ask it though."
Jake turned a little bit red, then said "don't worry about it."
Of course now I was extremely curious, but I decided not to push it. However, apparently Paul really wanted to know, so he then asked me..."is the red in your hair natural?"
Yes. this is a true story. I only have those boys as witnesses, but I was entertained none-the-less. Also to be honest, I know wonder how this came up as a question that at least two of these boys had apparently been pondering in depth.

Back to Life

I am currently writing this from the BYU library. Yes there is still a week before classes start. However, I would like to share that I have just now officially declared my major. I am now officially on all school systems registered as a Family and Consumer Sciences Education major. I am the queen of future home ec teachers. Life is good. I didn't want to wait until I walked home and found a chance to steal my neighbors internet to share this news. However, it is also a bit of a wake up call to be walking around campus again. It felt really weird...almost the way visiting Pocatello does now. I know that I know this place well. and at least part of me belongs here. But I haven't been here for so long, it's almost as though I will have forgotten things. As though I will randomly not know where the JFSB is for my junior year...which reminds me of a story:
So my very first semester at BYU, I took a night class. I don't know if I would advise that for other people, but I loved that class. I know I would advise taking Survey of World Religions from Brother Choi to anyone. Anyway, one day I got out of class, and I was starting to walk home, and a male student that was in fact obviously older than me approached me. He asked me if I knew where the JFSB was. I told him I did, and that I would show him to it. As we talked, he told me it was his last semester at BYU...for anyone who has never gone to or even visited BYU, the JFSB is the large building in the very middle of campus that I think half my generals took place in. It's very hard to miss. Therefore, my roommates and I decided that he was either joking around, doing a social norms test, or trying to hit on me. To this day we're still uncertain.
Anyway, being here in the library just reminds me how soon I will be taking classes again. and how much time I will be spending here. However, it will be very worth it when someday I rule the world...or at least my classroom.

Amazing

First off...Kristi won the give-a-way, but as Sara, Jeni, and Janey come to Provo, I will also give them gifts for entering...and for being awesome.
Secondly, I don't have internet at my apartment. I'm currently sitting outside the guy building in my ward stealing a friend's internet connection. He doesn't know...shhhh. So my posts may be even more sporadic for a little while.
Thirdly, here's a post I wrote today:

Isn’t it amazing how differently we interpret different types of weather depending on what is going on in our lives? As some of you may have figured out, I was dating someone. I was convinced I was going to get to marry him someday…however things didn’t work out. Then just as things were at the worst for me, and I didn’t know how I was going to get through everything, I woke up to the heaviest rain I had the good fortune of seeing for a good long time. There is very little as comforting as being able to look out the window and find your own inner turmoil-something you didn’t know how to put into words…something that you couldn’t even describe to yourself, something that it hurt even more to try to put words to-reflected so purely in the weather. It truly seemed as though the heavens themselves were sobbing. And when the sky matched my mood, I found it possible for me to reflect on it more, and face the pain…which is the first step in the healing process. The rain was the biggest comfort I’ve had yet, and although I am still sad, and I’m still learning how to live with these changes, I know I can do it now. I know that Heavenly Father is watching over me, and knows how I feel, and I know that this is do-able. I know I can handle it. I know this can’t keep me down.

PS Surprise give-a-way!!!

As some of you may know, I crochet sometimes. Also I bake once in a while. So I figured I would share these talents.
Therefore, I'm doing a give-a-way. To enter, just comment on this blog. I don't particularly care about followers, so you don't need to advertise me or my blog. just comment on this post. One entry per person. I'm going to crochet you something and bake you something if you win. So here we go!
I'll pick the winner on Monday, August 16, 2010. Love you all!

If I'm addicted to loving you

and you're addicted to my love too...we can be those two birds of a feather that flock together.
So I hope you all are down with me loving you...because if I know you, and you're reading this...I most likely do love you.
There are so many different kinds of love. There's the love between friends, family, romantic love, protective love, obsessive love, the-hopeless-love-from-afar-that-I-hold-for-many-male-celebrities, the-idolizing-love-that-I-hold-for-women-like-Marilyn Monroe-Audrey Hepburn-and-Zoe Deschanel, and of course the Christ-like love that is charity.
Obviously not all of these loves are good. But I've felt all of them at one time or another. Life is about learning to feel the good kinds of love. Learning how to love while still being healthy. Learning to let go of the fear after love hurts you, and loving again.
Because nothing is better than the rush of love...any of these kinds of love. Knowing that someone that you love loves you back...in any of the good ways...is how you know about the good in the world. It's how you know you're doing a good job in life, and not failing miserably.
Knowing that my friends love me back...that my family not only loves, but also trusts me. Knowing that there are people out there who would do anything to protect me...those are the things that tell me that no matter what's going wrong, the heart of life IS good.

And...my roommates probably think I'm a slut.

So, I just got 2 new roommates. They moved in while I was visiting home for a weekend. I've had 2 conversations with each of them. They seem really nice. However, one was slightly awkward. Here is what happened just tonight.
I was really tired, so I got home from FHE around 10, and just curled up on the couch and fell asleep. I woke up an hour later, when my friend Rich texted me to tell me that he was at my door to visit me. So I was sitting on the love seat with Rich talking, and they came in with groceries. I smiled at them and introduced them to Rich, then Rich and I continued to talk. Eventually, they returned to their room, and Rich left. I was still super tired, so I just sat on the couch for a little while. Finally I got up and went to the bathroom to wash my face so I could go to bed. I looked in the mirror, and my hair was quite a sight to see. I have curly hair that I had put in a messy bun before FHE, and parts had been pulled out while I was sleeping, and basically I had what is known as sex hair. My roommates that know nothing about me beyond my name, what I look like, and that I'm from Idaho walked in to see me sitting on the love seat with Rich, and with my hair looking like Rich and I had been in the midst of a make out session. This is indeed a glorious day in my life. I really think I should now find a way to make sure they see Rich with his girlfriend. Just to confuse them.

Favorite quote.

Take chances. Take a lot of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up, and with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be. Your mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make. Everything is worth it. Say how you feel always. Be you, and be okay with it.
-Unknown

I love this quote so much. It is similar to how I like to live my life. My favorite song...on a similar note...as of late has been Taking Chances by Celine Dion. I don't want to live safely. I never want to look back and ask myself What If? Right now, I'm going out there. I'm saying what I think. What I feel. I'm being myself...and I like it. I like me. I'm a good, fun, sweet, generous person. I would be friends with me. I feel bad for anyone that choses not to be. Not to be conceited...I just think I'm a worthwhile friend to have. But I've recently learned to like me, and want to be friends with myself. Around the same time that I decided taking chances was a good thing. When I decided to say how I feel and what I think. Basically, living life to the fullest. and it rocks.
Yes I do throw myself out, and open myself up to the possibility of being hurt more...because I'm not holding myself back right now. I am opening up my whole heart, and taking my chances...but it's worth it. I'm also opening myself up to the possibility of far more happiness. Basically, life is good in the hood.

I have formal dinner parties. and I looked pretty cute if I do say so myself.
The only make up I had in the entire state was my bright blue eyeshadow. it was stellar.
We're hott. need I say more?
I really wish I had boughten this dress.
But I did buy these stunning glasses.
and I can tie a tie/provide myself with a curly mustache. You're jealous. This I know.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

I've always really liked Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He's an awesome actor. I love his movies. However, I never really understood all of the girls talking about how attractive he was...He was always just cute, like a little kid. Until I watched Inception. Then I fell madly into lust with him. Then I watched 500 Days of Summer again. and I looked up various quotes from him. He's wonderful. I plan to find him and marry him. I just thought I would share that fact with everyone.

Only me.

So...in a typical move of Tiffany, at 1:15 in the morning, I decided it would be a GREAT idea to go running tomorrow morning...so you may ask...what am I still doing awake? Answer, I decided I needed my iPod, and waiting until morning to find it just wouldn't do. And being me, I can think of about a billion places that I would think of as the perfect place to put my iPod that I would never forget that I put it there. So I have looked through all of my bags, and my car...The bad news: no iPod yet...the good news: Laverne finally got cleaned out as she deserved.
So now I feel as though the challenge has been laid out by myself, and I cannot go to bed until my iPod has been found. So I'm trying to figure out where else I might have put it.

*Update* I have been triumphant. It was in my school backpack.

Do you remember when?

Once upon a time when I was a small child, I was always really excited when my mom let me borrow her little walkman tape player when I was walking around outside. and I loved it. It was magnificent. I also had an excellent little toy called the jump-it. you spun it around and jumped over it. it was like a jump rope only completely different. Some of you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, do you know what else I miss from these glorious simpler days? I miss Polaroid cameras. They were the best part. and I could get another one. Here's how.

Guilty as charged

I don't openly embrace my deep and abiding love of the following things...but I will share them. Because I love you my dear blog-stalking friends.
1. Little known (for a reason) utterly ridiculous romance movies. For example, Love Potion #9. Also For Richer For Poorer.
you know. the ones you only truly adore late at night when you can't sleep. That I found on VHS in my mothers basement, and watched there.
2. Bugles. There is very little worse for you in the world, but I adore their crunch, putting them on my fingers and their delicious flavoring. But it has to be the original bugles. None of this flavored crap.
3. DTRs*. Yes I admit it. There is little I enjoy more than a good DTR. it just feels like so much is resolved, and happiness is truly achieved.
4. Cheesy old musicals. West Side Story and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Nothing makes me happier.
5. Oreos. I love oreos. I adore them. more than words can say.

*For those of you not from my apartment, DTR stands for Del Taco Run.

Due to popular demand

or just the request of my deeply beloved Christine. Here is the rest of my ring list.
1. Swim with dolphins
2. Leave the continent

Ring List

My roommates and I have made ring lists. The things that we must do before we get married. My list has 48 things on it. and I've done 4. 5 if you count the serenade I was given today. I'm still debating. Anyway, here are my 5 stories.
1. Hug a penguin. When I put this down, I was just writing down the most random, irrational thing I could think of. It's something anyone would love to do, but I didn't think I would ever really do it. But I came home to Idaho for a weekend. and for our treat, my dad took us out to dinner at Applebees. and at Applebees...there was...a lady making balloon animals for the kids. She made my 9 year old sister a balloon penguin that I hugged. and I decided to count it due to the irrationality of this desire.
2. Make a good dinner from scratch with a boy. I love cooking more than anything else on Earth. so I've always wanted to share that with someone of the opposite sex. Just for fun. I invited my friend Rich over, and we made a cheese sauce with noodles and cheese biscuits. Then we cheated shamelessly on the dessert and made funfetti cookies. using a mix. therefore making it cheating. but not the dinner. so I counted it.
3. Learn Self-Defense. I'm on the enrichment committee, so when a girl in the ward told us she would be willing to teach a self-defense class, I was ALL for it. It was awesome. She taught us how to react to a couple of different approached someone attacking us might make...my favorite one was choking us from behind. I also enjoyed learning how to punch. I feel very empowered.
4. Make banana pancakes. Today was fast Sunday. and as of about 3:30 yesterday, we had not been assigned groups to break the fast. So my roommate and I invited a few friends over to eat with us, and I made...you guessed it...banana pancakes!!! They were marvelous. I also made these fantastic pudding cups. The cups were made of chocolate, and the pudding was a chocolate peanut butter deliciousness. I'm rather proud of them. Actually more so than I was the banana pancakes.
5. Be serenaded by a man. This one I haven't decided whether or not to mark off yet. You see...ordinarily that would be due to a question of whether or not it was a man serenading me or a boy...but it was definitely a man. The problem was...although he performed an original song for me...about me...it was also about my roommate, and he was singing to her too. It was truly amazing, and I smiled more during that song than I have for a while. but it wasn't special for me, so I have yet to decide if it counts. Either way though...The man that sang to me is basically half a step down from perfection. I only say this because he most likely has flaws...I just have yet to find them. He is gorgeous, talented, and utterly amazing. My 6th roommate (adopted) Noel and I come up with nicknames for the men in my life...however innocently they may be in my life...and his is Boy Adonis. and it fits. Oh does it fit. So it was pretty much wonderful. I may decide to throw myself shamelessly at him. The end.

Words that can't be spoken

I'm stealing this idea from my friend Jacob. It seems highly therapeutic. and I greatly enjoyed reading it on his blog. So here are some things I want very badly to say to some of my friends, but I can't say them to their faces for obvious reasons.
1. The more time I spend with you, the more time I want to...you make me happier than I've been in a long time. I don't even like sports. I wasn't going to come on Monday, but you seemed disappointed in the people dropping out of the activity, so I came. I hope that someday I will be able to tell you all of this, but I'm not sure if you'll ever want to hear it.
2. I miss you. The real you. The one that drew snowmen and gingerbread men fighting to the death with candy canes. The one that could make me laugh without any effort what-so-ever. Whenever I get a letter from you, I hope and pray that you'll keep yourself alive long enough to send the next one, and that somehow in my response I will say something that inspires you to be happy once again. Something that brings out your happy spontaneous side again. I want you to be healthy and to be my best friend once again.
3. Do you remember when once upon a time we used to spend every waking hour together? and many of the sleeping ones as well? Do you remember when we sang kiss the girl together to mock a good friend? and when you threatened to sing it in my trunk? Do you remember when we promised each other side door keys to each others' houses? Because I've never forgotten. You still have one to mine. All you have to do is use it.
4. I can't wait for you to come home, but at the same time, part of me wants you to stay out forever. Part of me feels safer knowing what to expect from you because you're busy and far away. The thought of you coming home, and not knowing if you'll keep in touch when it's easier scares me. I don't know if I would be able to handle that rejection of you not being willing to do that. Even after 2 years of minimum communication, you have such incredible power over my mood and my happiness. I don't think you have any idea how exciting it is in my life when a letter arrives, or some kind of contact from you comes. You could have the power to crush me completely if you decide not to talk to me. and that terrifies me. It's easy now to brush it off as you being busy doing the Lord's work.

That's all for now. But it felt good to write those.

What you feel is what you are.

And what you are is beautiful. Yes you.
I was writing a letter to a friend that suffers from depression.
and the truth is, there are so many things that I tell myself when there is someone I dislike to help me learn to like them. I make lists of their good qualities, and if I can't think of any, I tell myself that Heavenly Father found something to love about them, so I can love them as well.
And you know what...I'm worth as much as those people. Maybe more, because I actually do like myself. I'm not annoying for the most part, and I'm fun to be around. I'm pretty cute when I put forth some effort...and as of late, I've been feeling beautiful...which means I am beautiful. awesome right?
And to the best of my knowledge, I like everyone that reads this blog. If you've commented, I like you. Which puts you higher up than those people I have to work my butt off to like. So that means you are absolutely incredible and wonderful.
Don't forget it. You better feel beautiful right now.

I'm a pirate.

Sometimes I party with my roommates...okay, it's always a party here. But sometimes we have planned parties where we invite people and have food and kool-ade and such. Anyway, here's what it looks like when we party BYU style.

My roommate and I are adorable. Especially as pirates.

Emily could and would ruthlessly kill anyone. She's legit.

I take a lot of pictures. So Emily took one of me.

Kevin and Craig forgot to dress up. So we gave them eye-patches.

Richard forgot to dress up too. but he's a good boy, so we let him stay

Brittani makes the best faces

I think that Richard looks better without the eye-patch anyway. He looks a little bit like a mad scientist.

Rich said I looked way too sweet to be a pirate. So I tried to glare at the camera...I think he may be right.

We always make it a point to have red plastic cups...just to add a touch of shadiness to our party.

Brittani was our dirty pirate hooker. In honor of my old seminary teacher. Who told us that gypsy was just another way to say pirate hooker.

Sarah and Melissa decided to jump in the pool.

With their clothes on.
I joined them. It was great fun. I would advice swimming fully clothed. as the opposite of skinny dipping, we call it chunky dunking.

OPEN YOUR EYES!!!

I put one of the Marilyn Monroe quotes as my facebook status. It was this one:
"A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left."
I don't really agree with this quote. I am someone who feels way too much and would do anything for anyone. It's party of who I am. If I tried to follow this advice, then maybe I would manage to reach a healthy medium where I am more cautious.
This quote however, is a type of comfort when someone is hurting. Because Marilyn's definition is a girl who doesn't hurt.

The real reason I am writing this post however, is because of the attack that Marilyn endured in the comments on my status. I didn't mind the comments about how depressing and pessimistic of a quote this is. I agree...but I also can glean wisdom from it. The first comment that truly upset me was the following: "ok, the fact that you quoted marilyn monroe ... i might as well not read it" I of course jumped in immediately to defend my heroine, and found another person quickly joined in on the opposite side with this comment: I didn't know the lady personally, but to my knowledge she was hardly the fountain of virtue and wisdom that you're making her out to be." I didn't say she was the fountain of virtue and wisdom. I said that she had a lot of wise things to say. and that she was one of my heroes. Then of course the anti-Marilyn team came in to say that it is by their fruits you shall know them, and that with Marilyn you don't have to look far to see that they are rotten. Well, since I don't want to make a million enemies on facebook, here is my rebuttal to that.

When we read quotes and take advice, we do it with our own personalities and our own grain of salt mixed in. Many Many people can read the exact same thing, and each of them get something completely different, but all are true. Isn't that how the scriptures work? but with people getting their own wisdom at different times? The same scripture can mean something different to even the same person just weeks apart. and that is how quotes and advice can be. Therefore, when I read that quote from Marilyn given what was going through my mind at the time, what I saw was a quote from a woman who was hurting. Someone who had recently gone through great pain, and wanted to avoid more.

On top of that, when I was contemplating all of what my friends had said, I came away with these thoughts from my journal: "Not everyone was given the same blessings and opportunities that you were. Maybe if you were given their lives, you would make the exact same decisions they did, or even worse ones. YOU DON'T KNOW!!!! I'm not saying that we should emulate someone, and try to be exactly like them. I'm not saying that everyone has to be proud of them, or even like them. However, what I am saying, is that people shouldn't talk about what they don't know. People shouldn't make snap judgements. They should know more about someone then their reputations. Everyone should be given a fair chance. Everyone needs and deserves love. Regardless of what they have done, they deserve to be loved merely for being. And there is something to learn from everyone. You saw my post the other day. Her quotes were wonderful. I loved them. She said things that I do want to incorporate into my life. There are many other things that she said that cancel this one out for her own believes. Let's not be ridiculous people!!!
I was furious and angry with what these people were coming to for her without even considering the other side. Without wondering why I might have put up that status. Without contemplating why Marilyn had said it. If I had credited the quote to someone that they admired, what would they have walked away with? What kind of conclusion would they have come to? the people who posted honest opinions based on the quote, I am okay with. I admire it. I don't care if I disagree with them. It's good to be able to share opinions. But I don't want blind judgements. Everyone on Earth deserves more than that. They deserve to be given consideration.

Audrey

I'm on a role now...so I'm going to share quotes from another one of my heroines. Audrey Hepburn is a woman I have always completely admired. Unlike Marilyn, whom I recently learned to love, I've adore Audrey Hepburn before I learned about her as woman and read her quotes. However, similar to Marilyn, my love grew exponentially as soon as I started learning more.

"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness, For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people, For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry, For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day, For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others."

"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

"Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!"

"I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person."

"The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it's all that matters."

"I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it."

"If I’m honest I have to tell you I still read fairy-tales and I like them best of all."

"The best thing to hold onto in life is each other."

"Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering - because you can't take it in all at once."

"Let's face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me."

"There is more to sex appeal than just measurements. I don't need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal, picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain."

"Pick the day. Enjoy it - to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come... The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present, and I don't want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future."

"If I get married, I want to be very married."

"Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others."

"You can always tell what kind of a person a man really thinks you are by the earrings he gives you."

"The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows."

"You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him."

"When you have nobody you can make a cup of tea for, when nobody needs you, that's when I think life is over."

"It's that wonderful old-fashioned idea that others come first and you come second. This was the whole ethic by which I was brought up. Others matter more than you do, so 'don't fuss, dear; get on with it'."

"The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years."

"people, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone."

"On the one hand maybe I’ve remained infantile, while on the other I matured quickly, because at a young age I was very aware of suffering and fear."

Marilyn

Growing up, I once read a book where one of the women idolized Marilyn Monroe. but it was all about Marilyn's looks. So I always believed that was all she had...but lately, I've found a lot of Marilyn Monroe quotes, and she has become one of my heroines. She is incredible. She gave advice that I believe every woman should hear. and words that I plan to live by.

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

"A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left."

"If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything."

"I am good, but not an angel. I do sin, but I am not the devil. I am just a small girl in a big world trying to find someone to love."

"When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm already better than them."

"It's better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone."

"If you're gonna be two-faced at least make one of them pretty."

"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."

"The real lover is the man who can thrill you by kissing your forehead or smiling into your eyes or just staring into space."

"Beneath the makeup and behind the smile I am just a girl who wishes for the world."

"I don't mind living in a man's world, as long as I can be a woman in it."

"I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn't."

"The nicest thing for me is sleep, then at least I can dream."

"All little girls should be told they are pretty, even if they aren't."

"Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition."

"I want to grow old without facelifts. I want to have the courage to be loyal to the face I have made."

"I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful."

"It's often just enough to be with someone. I don't need to touch them. Not even talk. A feeling passes between you both. You're not alone."

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot!"

"I don't mind being burdened with being glamorous and sexual. Beauty and femininity are ageless and can't be contrived, and glamour, although the manufacturers won't like this, cannot be manufactured. Not real glamour; it's based on femininity. We are all born sexual creatures, thank God, but it's a pity so many people despise and crush this natural gift. Art, real art, comes from it, everything."

"The thing I want more than anything else? I want to have children. I used to feel for every child I had, I would adopt another."

I think I would be friends with her. I wish today we had actresses as impressive as Marilyn Monroe was.
