I'm Married!!

So last week was the day. I got married. It was quite an eventful morning. I can finally sort of talk about that morning without being mad at myself or starting to cry, so maybe I will actually laugh about it someday. I actually lost a paper that said I was able to get married in the temple. We still haven't found it, so at least I know that I didn't just forget to put it in my bag. Luckily another temple was able to fax over a copy they had made.
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. Our sealer was the best sealer I could have possibly asked for. We weren't familiar with any sealers at the Logan temple, so we obviously didn't request him, but he was really great. If we were to go back now, I would request him.
After the ceremony, we took pictures for a long time. Luckily Matt's parents had planned ahead and gotten him some hand-warmers. I might have stolen a couple every so often. We can't wait to see the pictures. Jennell was really a great photographer, and we had a lot of fun with her. We do have one picture from her now, and I'm very excited to see the rest.
After the sealing and the pictures, we got to go to our luncheon, and everything was delicious. It was also really nice to be surrounded by our families and loved ones.
Then we drove up to Pocatello for the reception and ring ceremony. For the ring ceremony, I asked an old family friend to perform the ceremony in advance, but unfortunately, he forgot to write it down and made other plans for that night. Luckily, the night before I was able to talk with the bishop from my home ward, and Bishop Johnson agreed to take care of the ring ceremony for us. It was a lovely ceremony, and I hope that it helped some of our family members feel included and understand why we chose to be married in the temple.
Almost immediately after the ring ceremony was our reception. I think the reception turned out to be absolutely beautiful. I really appreciated each and every one of our friends and family members who came. My mom did a huge portion of the planning for me, as I had tests almost every week last semester, and she did an amazing job. The cultural hall looked wonderful, and the food that I was able to eat was delicious. My cousin Holli made our cake...it was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. Really, it was everything Matt and I wanted.

In the last week, we've been busy adjusting to working around each other more than we did before, and moving into our new apartment. We only have our bed for furniture, so we haven't decorated at all yet, but our kitchen is all set up, and as soon as we have a dresser, we'll have our bedroom ready for anything. Overall though, I highly recommend being married...to the right person.
And now we are back in school, and we'll see how we manage to make everything work from here.

Soo

I just now realized I haven't posted anything in a month. I'm still here. Promise. Just busy.

For today, I'm going to teach everyone about textile products. Because everyone loves textiles. Did you know that fibers can be taken from cotton, flax, wool, silk, and when we're done with those, we can make our own out of chemicals?

Did you know there are animals that are actually killed each time they are sheared for their wool. Importing their wool into the US is actually illegal now.

Did you know that we can make fibers so skinny that we actually extrude them and weave with them in groups, then dissolve the solvent holding them together to create the fabric?

Did you know we can make faux suede that is higher quality and easier to care for than real suede?

Did you know most of the clothing items you own are probably knitted?

Did you know that most lingerie is made with a tricot knit?

Just a few interesting tidbits from my textiles class. Maybe later I'll post funny quotes from some of my classes last year. I think I still have that word document.

Goals

I have a goal to read one conference talk a week until the April conference.
Here's my favorite part of the one I read today.

We may not know when or how the Lord’s answers will be given, but in His time and His way, I testify, His answers will come. For some answers we may have to wait until the hereafter. This may be true for some promises in our patriarchal blessings and for some blessings for family members. Let us not give up on the Lord. His blessings are eternal, not temporary.

I love this because sometimes, it is hard to wait on the Lord. It can be discouraging to try to do what we need to do. Sometimes, it is hard to hold onto faith when the things you have been praying for, sometimes for years, seem no closer to happening. But we can receive our blessings. in the Lord's time.

Quality Time

I discovered this summer that my love language is quality time. This was kind of a surprise for me because two years ago, I took the same quiz and my love languages were physical touch and words of affirmation equally tied. However, when I really thought about it, this made sense to me.
So now that I know my love language, I see how true it is in every way. If I want someone to know that I love them, I set aside time for them and put away everything else. The best gifts are handmade ones because of the time you have to put in them.
And I feel the most loved when I know someone is giving me their time. When they put away their homework or their laptop and just want to be with me. That is when I know I am loved, and when I am the happiest.

Great Job!

So...the testing center sometimes gives me compliments after I finish a test. That always makes me feel really accomplished.
I am taking Textiles this semester. It is one of the hardest classes in my major because we have to memorize details about every fiber and every type of weave, etc. I had a test in that class that started the Saturday of General Conference and ended on Tuesday. I started studying for it on the Tuesday before it was due sporadically. I didn't really study until Saturday though. I really buckled down that weekend. I would study for an hour, watch conference, study for 2 hours, watch conference, then study for the rest of the evening. This process continued for Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, I skipped my first class and spent that hour reviewing the slideshows one more time. I took the test as soon as I got out of classes on Monday, and lo and behold, I received a 91% on the multiple choice.
Then when I went to class on Wednesday, I discovered that my score was the class high score. Sometimes it just feels really good to know you did a good job.

Wedding Dress!!!

I found my wedding dress!! It's absolutely gorgeous and I feel like a princess in it. I was amazed at how very perfect it was. And how completely opposite of everything I expected to get it was...well maybe not completely opposite. I didn't leap off the deep end and get a knee length skirt (I'm getting married in December. That would be a little cold)

But anyway. I can't put a picture here because Matt reads my blog, but it's a huge ballgown with folds and some decoration and appliqued fabric at the bottom of the skirt. The top also has some folds, and we put a white sash at my high waist to ease the transition. It is absolutely amazing. I honestly feel like a Disney princess in it. I thought of Cinderella and Belle while I was trying it on.

Anyway, if you want to see a picture, get me your email address and I will send you one. as long as you promise not to show Matt. Kthanks.
